How green tea can help with mental stress?

If you feel stress and are looking for a natural remedy to help your body deal wiith this stress, you might consder green tea.

Green Tea contains a compound called L-theanine and is considered the “5th” taste which the Japanese refer to as Unami.

It is the L-theanine which can produce a calming effect on the body. How is this possible? L-theanine can enter the brain and stimulate GABA receptors. When GABA receptors are stimulated, this can modulate the nervous system to be less active and hence the body exhibits less nervous tension.

How much green tea should one drink to benefit from L-theanine’s effects? This depends on your overall health condition and your current medication and nutritional supplements. In general, though, by drinking several cups a day, you can benefit from the anxolytic effects of green tea. Alternatively, if you are not into drinking green tea or any tea for that matter, you can try L-theanine extract which is derived from green tea.
