Best Curcumin Supplements

Curcumin, the active compound derived from the Indian spice, Turmeric, is touted to have many health benefits. Some of these benefits include:
• Minimizing inflammation in the body
• Protection from oxidative stress
• Inhibition and Prevention of cancer
• Improving Cardiovascular health

While these health benefits are well documented, unfortunately, curcumin is not well absorbed when taken by mouth. Consequently, a large amount of curcumin has to be taken to achieve any beneficial effect. This is why many clinical studies have participants take 8 grams of curcumin everyday. If the typical curcumin pill contains 500 mg of active ingredient, one would have to take 16 curcumin pills per day!! If this amount of curcumin is taken for an extended period of time, this could lead to stomach discomfort.

Over the past several years, different methods have been used to increase absorption such as combining curcumin with lecithin or black pepper, but they have their drawbacks. Combining curcumin with lecithin has been shown to have superior absorption but the amount of curcumin used is less than 100 mg. Combining curcumin with black pepper has also been shown to have enhanced absorption initially but then it begins to rapidly decline within 1-2 hours. Also the use of black pepper has potentially dangerous interactions with most prescription medications.

CuramedThe Best Curcumin supplement
Curamed is a type of curcumin supplement that offers superior absorption compared to regular turmeric and plain curcumin. It would take 200 capsules (500 mg each) of turmeric and 10 capsules (500 mg each) of plain curcumin to equal 1 capsule (500 mg) of Curamed! Since Curamed is not formulated with black pepper, dangerous drug interactions with prescription medications are not an issue. Besides enhanced absorption, Curamed has been shown to attain faster curcumin blood levels and maintain them longer (up to 8 hours) than other types of curcumin preparation. This allows Curamed to exert its beneficial effects consistently and for longer periods of time.
